WSU spinoff bought for $185M by California firm

Southfield-based Lumigen, Inc. - Wayne State University 's first spinoff - has been bought for $185 million by Beckman Coulter Inc., a California-based medical device maker. Lumigen bought out WSU in 2003, according to Paul Schaap, president and CEO. He started the company at Wayne State in 1987.
